Learning the Art of Living

The SpringHouse Art of Living program will provide Lake Martin residents and guests classes and lecture series to increase their quality of life through dining and gardening. These hands-on seminars will be held throughout the restaurant and in the surrounding garden and orchard, when they are completed. From how to properly handle a chef's knife to making the most of seasonal produce, SpringHouse chefs will boost your kitchen confidence while giving professional tips and guidance. In the garden, attendees will see firsthand how to optimize their home plots by learning proper mulch application methods and cutting edge organic gardening techniques.

The open-air farmers market, which will be held at Russell Crossroads on summer weekends, is the capstone of the Art of Living program. Residents and guests will be able to mingle with their favorite local producers while surrounding themselves with the freshest Alabama produce, meats, and artisanal products.

Painting Classes
Local artist, Bonnie Luckie instructs beginners to advanced artists how to paint abouquet of tulips.  The cost is $30 and includes paints, brushes, two hours of instruction and a fun-filled evening with the other students.  Food & wine can be ordered before, during and after the class from the small-medium-large plates menu.  Painting classes in April and May will be “Painting from the Promontory.” That’s the upstairs loft. Classes will remain on the second Thursday of the month in April and May, but will be moving to Wednesday nights June through August. Cooking Classes
Each month, Executive Chef, Rob McDaniel, shares his culinary expertise through cooking classes at SpringHouse. Class topics have ranged from making pasta, to sauces, to how to cook fish.  There are only 10 seats available for these intimate classes so call today to save your spot at the chef’s counter. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres during the class and stay for dinner upstairs selecting from the small-medium-large plate menu.  The cost is $25 per person. Make reservations with Michelle West 256.215.7080.
